 A Heads Up on R22 Refrigerant Phaseout

It's that time of year again where your A/C unit is working on over time.
If you're running into air conditioning troubles, consider the following:

1. The age of your system 
2. The type of your refrigerant your system contains
(this information can be obtained from the sticker on your outside unit)
3. Energy efficiency

​When a service technician gives you the diagnosis of your air conditioning system, ​here are some facts about R22 to help you make an informed decision.

If your system contains R-22 it will be costly to repair, however it can be done, depending on the AC issue.

R-22 systems are most commonly replaced by an R410-A system.

​Don't let cowboys recommend a replacement until the root of your issue is found.  Only then can you weigh the pros and cons.

​-The first refrigeration system process was developed in 1748 at the University of Glasgow by William Cullen.  He made the first actual "refrigerating machine" in 1755.  Make now mistake ladies he is is not related to "Twilights" Edward Cullen.

-The modern air conditioner was invented by Willis Carrier in 1902 in Buffalo New York.  Although its roots can be traced back to ancient Egypt where they used reeds that hung in a window.  When moistened, and the wind blew through the window, they had Evaporative Cooling!!
